Media Circle to support housing demand 1

More homes planned in Media Circle to support housing demand

More homes may soon grace the landscape of Media Circle, as hinted by an update from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) on Friday (May 3). A plot of land across from Infinite Studios in one-north, previously designated for business park use, is now proposed for residential with commercial space on the ground floor. Similarly, parcels along Portsdown Road and Portsdown Avenue are also under consideration for mixed-use development, with residential components.

The move towards high-density residential developments aims to meet the growing demand for housing in one-north while transforming the area into a vibrant mixed-use district. Further details on the development plans will be unveiled in due course.

Nicholas Mak, Chief Research Officer of Mogul.sg, noted the evolution of Media Circle from its original vision as a business park catering to the media technology industry. Despite being distant from MRT stations and residential estates, recent years have seen an increase in residential offerings in the area.

Recent developments include the awarding of a residential site to Qingjian Realty and Forsea Residence in February, with another site adjacent to Infinite Studios set for launch. The strong demand for private homes in one-north can be attributed to its proximity to educational institutions and business precincts.

Lee Sze Teck, Senior Director of Data Analytics at Huttons, highlighted the potential for over 1,500 dwelling units in the area, reflecting the sustained demand for housing in one-north. This surge in residential offerings is expected to further enhance the allure of the district as a desirable residential destination.
